George Washington enslaved people. He believed it was right for him to own 150 human souls. He used enslaved people's teeth to make his dentures. He ordered the killing of this land's Native Peoples.

Did you know that using microaggressions against a minority causes them to perform worse?

Why are we making all of our minority neighbors who were brutalized by colonization have to think every day about an enslaver who murdered Natives and Black people? As someone to look up to??

The people who made our seal in 1889 and our flag in 1923 did not consider very many people. I believe we deserve better. It's time for us to join together and use democracy to choose a new name and flag for the state.

Write the legislature to demand a say in the process. They are currently reviewing changing the flag so now is the time to act to make sure we do the whole job! Point out that with Washington looking down on us, we STILL HAVEN'T ENDED SLAVERY! Be sure to mention #WashOutWashington!

Our beautiful state is known for being a leader. We can show the nation it is time to move past the bad parts of our history to be better than we were. We can show people how to grow.
